The Homecoming Committee is a multifaceted creative framework using participatory performance and cultural organizing as tools for community cohesion, economic opportunity, and physical & mental wellbeing.
The Homecoming Committee is both the non-hierarchachal body of artists cooperatively running the project through administrative/creative contributions and the central characters of our first tour-ready production in development. This venture centers artists and audiences at the intersections of the African diaspora and LGBTQIA+ communities.
Beyond live performance, The Homecoming Committee is composed of BlaQ artists determined to use their practice to impact their communities through relevant public engagement, research, and audience cultivation programs, which may include: educational offerings, community-based action research projects, a community dance container, tours, think tanks, and other embodied collective experiences.
